As a young child I can remember standing on a stool
helping my grandmothers cook, each with their own style but
both turning out some tasty dishes. However, a most amazing
task was watching my Italian relatives in Pennsylvania cook
and create the tastiest meals in the world. There would be
pots the size of me on the stove top waiting for the
freshest of ingredients from the gardens and the meat market
down the road. The steam from the pot filled the kitchen as
the water boiled awaiting homemade pasta. Fresh herbs were
added to the sauce with a handful here and a pinch there; no
measuring required with a recipe that was embedded in their
minds and hearts to create a meal that would linger on your
tongue for a very long time. Many years have passed since I
have witnessed such a wonderful sight, the laughter and yes
the yelling in a language I had only wished I had learned,
but the memories and the gift to create scrumptious meals
will always be in my heart and soul as I create meals for
many who enter my home. For me, it is never a chore to cook,
it is a creation of this and that mixed with a lot of love
and soul.
Lots of Love,
Kim
